 It seems that the Monday Holiday threw us off. These are all previous questions some have been edited to be more explicit.

1) What are three mistakes someone could make on the first date with you that would automatically make you turn down a second date with them? No conversation and if they smell, like unclean

2) Pick an animal that best displays your personality. I would say a hawk, most around me would prolly say an Ass. Wait, they call me that ALL the time

3) If your so stopped having sex with you, how long would you stay? LOL…..Well, with my ex-wife I stayed for a full year. Now I do not know. I guess it depends on why.

4) Are you more passive or aggressive when the relationship becomes physical? To start the action, I will be agressive. Once it starts, I would prefer to be passive.

5) Have you ever been INSIDE a store that sold adult themed toys and videos? Umm…..Yes. Used to go almost weekly with da Missus.

Bonus: What percentage of women do you think are capable of handling being in a “friends with benefits” relationship? How about men? I think more people can handle it than are willing to try. da Missus and I had a great talk night before last. Lot of issues got aired. Are we on the way back to recovery? Who knows, but that was a step.

I apologize for such a long time between posts. Strangly enough, it has been due to too much to say instead of nothing to say.

I do not know where to start.

 

I guess, I will start at the beginning. da Missus and I have decided to close the marriage. Well, it will be closed as of February 1st. She is still planning one last fling I think. We have also made the descision not to read each others blogs. Rather overwhelming that.

 

You see, I have been informed this last week or so that our marriage is in trouble. And yes, this was a big shock to me. I thought we were doing fine. Silly me. It all goes back to an affair (HHHmmm….Not really affair, as in me dating someone, but really a one time fuck). An affair that happened two years ago. And she is still not over it.

We have been through counciling. We have been to marriage workshops. She has enough relationship books to start her own fucking library.

She still wants to know why.

 Why????  Because she does not fucking appreciate everything I do for her.

 

I hate my job.

Hate it Hate it Hate it. But we need more money to keep the household running, so I took the promotion.

 

Every day off I take is to take care of her or the kids. Sorry, minus two of those days. I was passing kidney stones both of those days.

Even on days that I am "sick" I have ended up taking care of the kids more than she does those days. I end up letting her sleep in.

 

I passed a Kidney stone this last Tuesday. I have been fighting a cold all week. I have a broken tooth that has kept me in constant pain for over a month, but what the hell. It is Saturday so SHE gets to sleep in while I have to get up with the kids. Kids who are both sick. I have worked 1/2 to an hour of non-paid OT every day this week. If the ice storm breaks I will probably be going in one day this weekend. I am supposed to have Monday off as a holiday. Don’t worry, when I go in to work on the weekend, I won’t be getting paid AND I will wait til we have the kids asleep. How late did she sleep?? I do not remember, but it was after 2 pm. May have been after 3 pm

 

I get up every morning with the kids. She sleeps til I wake her at noon. At noon I take my nap. She takes care of the kids from Noon until 8pm, when they go to bed. Kids get up between 7 and 8 in the morning. So I am taking care of the 4 to 5 hours in the morning, take a 2 hour nap, and then get up and go to work. My shift starts at 4pm  and ends at 12:30 am. I typically get to work before 3:30pm I usually get home after 1 am. I have to either cook dinner, buy dinner or have a sandwich when I get home.

 

Now even with all of this bitching last night da Missus went to the grocery store and bought me some presents. Nothing big in the realm of all things. A couple bags of oreos. Some Little Debbie Brownies. She has no idea how much this meant to me. She never does things like this. I nearly cried.

Let’s say you’ve been married to someone for a long time. Let’s say 20+ years. Perhaps even longer.   Now you are both retired. When you first met you were in love, and then the ‘in love’ thing faded (as it does) and you just ‘loved’ him. And then the children came along and you were too busy to even notice whether you loved him or not. You just carried on doing your thing.

 And now, 20, 30 years later, it’s just the two of you, and you realize you don’t even like him. He isn’t abusive, he doesn’t cheat. He is not terribly lazy / stinky / selfish. But you don’t like him. You don’t like the person he has become. He is a nasty, sulky person. A miserable bastard, to be perfectly honest. Perhaps he has always been that person; and love / marriage / kids clouded your perception. 

Financially, it would make sense to stay together. Emotionally – there is nothing. Not even respect. Just familiarity. Which, as the saying goes, has definitely bred contempt. And perhaps there is the fear of being on your own. Because let’s be honest, loneliness is a frightening thing. People wither and die because of loneliness. 

 Do you stay with him? Does the thought of being alone in your old age scare you enough into staying in a loveless marriage? You share bills. You share children. You even share a bed. But that’s all you share.

 Or should you get out while you still have the last few years left on this earth to be good to yourself? Is being alone better or worse that being with someone you don’t even like, never mind love?

 Would you stay? Or would you go?

One of my best friends is in a relationship like this.

My wife and I had a time where we were going through that too. She too slipped into MOM. And I was there to let her rest, take care of the kids and earn a paycheck. We broke that cycle.

However, we love each other. And in so many different ways. 

We have times where we are just buddies sharing a house. We have times that we act like a 90+ married grumpy couple. We have times we are like lusty teenagers with no supervision.

 

But, what we have done and continue to do is actively work every day at STAYING in love, in one form or another. Friends, first and foremost. We know there are times where we are not at our best, but I (and I hope and pray everyday that she does this also) commitment myself to her each and every day.

Do I do dumb things? Sure. Do I say things that upset her? Regularly. Do I have actions that hurt her? More often than I want to know. But I make it an active part of my day, everyday, that I stay in love with her. And I try to do things that make her want to stay in love with me.

Love is a verb. It is also a noun. It is something you have, something you give and most importantly something you must do. Every single relationship will fail if both partners do not actively try and remain in love. Nothing stays the same and if it does not move forward, it stagnates and dies.
